Op 14 december 1999 heeft de Europese Commissie een verzoek tot samenwerking (een zogenoemde AM-melding met referentie AM 99/053) aan onder meer de Nederlandse en de Portugese douaneautoriteiten gezonden, waarin - voor zover van belang - is opgenomen:

Goods under 3808 3027 10 (glyphosate 360 G/L), declared on import in 1998 and 1999, of Taiwan origin, with certificate of origin Taiwan;
Belgian customs could establish, for several operations, that goods were delivered, in fact, in the same containers dispatched from Shanghai - China to Kaohsiung - Taiwan (...) and forwarded from Kaohsiung - Taiwan to Antwerp - Belgium (...)

OLAF asks the Member States to submit copies of the commercial documents, transport documents and certificates of origin referring to the imports of declared glyphosate of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan origin (1998-1999)
